5 Spring Hair Remedies
So, as soon as we think we’ve found some relief from the Winter static we have to deal with the Spring frizz! Is it too much to ask for perfect hair? Is there any end in sight to these hair hindrances? Actually, there just might be. I have complied my top five remedies for battling hair mayhem; products that help keep my hair looking fab year-round. The best part – you can get them all at drugstore prices! So keep calm, and read on…
1. Neutrogena Anti-Residue Clarifying Shampoo
This shampoo claims to remove 90% of dulling residue caused by shampoos, conditioners and styling products. Not only does Neutrogena follow through on that declaration, but this shampoo is an absolute must-have during the summer months if you tend to do a lot of swimming. Especially if you’re a blonde. I keep it on hand to gently strip away all the chlorine build-up so I don’t end up with green hair. The bottle suggests using this once a week, and this is the only place where I will respectfully disagree. This assumes that you are washing your hair every day, which is a big no-no. We all should be aware of the fact that natural oils are great for our hair, but furthermore they are essential to combatting frizz during the warmer, more humid months. You should be washing your hair every other day at the most. (I wash mine every three days because well, it’s a chore) Instead of washing every day, try using dry-shampoo when you start to notice that greasy look. (We’ll get to that later) Anyway, since you will not be washing your hair every day, I would say it would be ok to use this shampoo about once a month to every other week if you’re prone to build-up.
2. Pantene Pro-V Sheer Volume Conditioner
I don’t recommend using Pantene’s Shampoos because I have heard that they can strip your hair shaft leaving it weak and brittle. However, pair this conditioner with your favorite volumizing shampoo and this stuff will give you exactly what it promises, long-lasting shiny voluptuous hair without the weight. I used to purchase Dove conditioner because this was the only conditioner I could find that would moisturize my obnoxiously long hair without weighing it down. Too bad Dove stopped doing this, because going forward I will only purchase Pantene’s Sheer Volume Conditioner.
3. TIGI Bed Head Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo
I have tried dozens of dry shampoos and have finally landed one I want to stick with. Dry shampoos are tricky. I ran into countless issues including white residue, over drying, ineffectiveness at removing oil, etc. My stylist finally turned me on to this and I will never go back. In addition to the fact that it actually works, it smells great and adds a touch of volume that keeps my hair rockin’ one more day! It’s definitely my “dirty secret” and now it can be yours too!
4. OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum
My guess is at this point you’ve picked up on the fact that I have static and frizz issues. Seriously, sometimes I just want to cut all my hair off. I would never do that because my hair is my “thang” but I have found a solution that has helped me battle these issues once and for all. If there was a miracle serum out there, this would be it. This serum contains a unique formula which helps repair damaged hair cuticles, mends split ends and fights the frizzies. This incredibly decadent blend of organic weightless coconut oil, and silk and keratin proteins assists in keeping long hair healthy by reducing everyday damage while adding strength and elasticity to already weak and damaged hair. Just for kicks, I decided to go without my miracle serum for a couple days to show you what my hair looks like without using the serum vs. when I use it. Here is my before and after:

You can see why I use this stuff after every wash. If you have the same issues, give it a try. I promise you won’t be sorry.
5. Got 2B Powder’ful Volumizing Styling Powder
Last, but certainly not least… After you’ve laid the groundwork for hair perfection, you have to finish it off with a little product, right? And if you’re like me, the bigger the better when it comes to your hair. I’m pretty sure I should’ve been an 80’s lady, but I figure the higher the hair, the closer to heaven. 😉 Ok but really, who couldn’t use a little extra volume? This is a powder that you can either rub onto your hands and then into your roots, or sprinkle directly onto your roots and work it in with your fingertips giving you the instant effect of a tease without the tangles. A friend of mine shared this classified information with me a couple years ago, and she’s probably not going to be happy that I’m sharing our hair secret with fellow bloggers. (Sorry, Naomi if you’re reading this!) But, the cat’s out of the bag. Keep your style powder’ful! A fab fave for sure!
Well, I guess that’s all for now. I hope you’ve enjoyed my tips!
Stay fab, friends! 🙂
great post!
